Playgroup recognises that parents are the first and most important educators of their children and the staff work in partnership with them to provide care and education for the children.

Parents who enrol their children at Playgroup are expected to help in the running of the setting, either formally or informally.  There are many ways in which parents can take part in this:

  • talking to the staff about their children’s needs, activities, interests and progress
  • helping at Playgroup sessions
  • sharing their own special interests with the children
  • being part of the management of Playgroup
  • helping by washing the flannels the children use as towels
  • helping by providing items such as ingredients for baking, paper, craft materials, objects for junk modelling and much more
